DreamHack, a division of ESL Gaming has announced that the 2020 tournament series DreamHack Open Featuring Fortnite will continue in 2021, across a series of events that begins in May. The tournament organiser has also announced that it is also continuing to host a second tournament this year, called the Cash Cup Extra Presented by DreamHack, for trios to compete over. Both events will feature a cumulative $900,000 prize pool.

The Open will be split between the spring, summer, and fall seasons, each of which will bolster a $200,000 prize pool. The first is set to begin in May 2021 with a duos format competition that will be broadcast over Twitch. There is also no need to sign up for the tournament, players can look to join in the Compete section of Fortnite.

"We had an incredible experience hosting the online DreamHack Open Featuring Fortnite in 2020, and are very excited to again partner with Fortnite operator Epic Games to offer another year of Fortnite events for our community," said Viktor Rydbäck, VP Product Management at ESL Gaming in a press release. "To strengthen our connection and involvement in the Fortnite competitive ecosystem is a tremendous opportunity."

As for the next Cash Cup Extra, the next will kick-off on May 12.
