We caught up with creative director Jonathan Pelling and writer Anthony Burch and found out more about Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, and in particular we discussed the new Moon setting and the characters that we'll be playing with in the game.

When talking to us about the characters that we'll be able to play as (including Claptrap), Pelling said: "Their action skills and skill trees, they've got a lot of meat in them."

"There's very few skills, if any, which are just tweaking a few stats here and there," he added. "All of them add pretty dramatic new abilities that round out your character, and each of the skill trees is far more divergent."

"So I think as a cast of characters we've really tried to mine the characters for who they are and what they can do, and translate that into some really interesting skill trees. So each of the characters plays really differently."

The creative director later added: "There are so many options for adapting your play-style and choosing what you like best, and you're going to find something fun in there somewhere."

Watch the interview for more details on the four playable characters, the changes to the combat loop brought about by the low-gravity Moon setting, and more. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is out now and you can read our review of the game here.
