If you didn't know, the Dragon Quest series is extremely popular in Japan, but we're sure not many would have expected it to be big enough to warrant a statue being made of the game, yet that's exactly what has happened.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the series, a hefty statue has been erected in Sumo, Japan. It is located on Awaji Island, famous for its oranges, onions, and beef, but more importantly it's also the birthplace of Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii.
According to The Asahi News, the statue has more meaning than you might initially think. Slime is for luck, the shield is protection from calamity, and the sword is to cut down evil fate.
Will you Dragon Quest fans be visiting the site?
