Dota 2, one of the gaming world's most popular MOBAs, has gotten itself a massive new update ahead of the new year. The most major changes include a new hero, a brand new HUD, two new pre-game phases, and loads of gameplay updates.
The new hero is called Monkey King, and is an agile melee hero who can leap between trees and manipulate his staff in various ways to his advantage. Monkey King can also change forms depending on where he is in the map, allowing him to blend in to the surroundings and letting him get closer to the enemy unseen. His ultimate ability summons a number of monkey soldiers who stand still in a radius around where the ability was cast. The soldiers attack anyone nearby, dealing a hefty chunk of damage.
The HUD has been modernised greatly, allowing for much simpler and easier access to many of the things Dota players need to get to the most. On top of this, there are loads of customisation options, and you can access settings in-game to remap buttons on the fly.
A new pre-game phase has also been introduced, allowing you to strategise with your team for 30 seconds, or just customise what your character is going to look like. The strategy phase lets you pick a lane, predict enemy lanes, pre-place some wards, and much more.
There have also been a load of major gameplay updates, bringing in a talent tree that lets you customise how your character plays even more throughout the battle, choosing between two options that will help you out in the short or long term. There have also been a number of changes to the levelling system.
The 7.0 update is massive, and it would be impossible for us to list it all here, so head this way to learn more. This update will change the face of the meta that we know in Dota 2, but is this change good or will it have a negative impact? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
