Back in July we found out that the first Doom, 2, and 3 were getting re-released versions, with the first two in particular offering a very nostalgic look back in time, showing very different visuals than the 3D models we're used to seeing these days.

Have you ever wondered what the 2016 reboot would look like if it was made back in the 1990s though? Well, a new mod lets you do just that, as you can see in the screens below and via the trailer here.

This mod is marketed as "Doom 2016 the Way 1993 Did It", and as you can see from the images it does a good job of making the game look retro in its visual style, including all the enemies we've used to pummelling.

Will you try this out?

"This is a great port, despite all the visual sacrifices."

REVIEW. Written by Kim Orremark & Mike Holmes

"It's fast, intense, stylish, and bloody. It feels old without feeling outdated, and the pace of combat means that you'll want to play on for just a little longer."
