It's a big year for Bungie, having split from Activision Blizzard earlier in the year before revealing Shadowkeep and New Light coming to Destiny 2 later in 2019, and at Gamescom we spoke with production director Scott Taylor and UI/UX director Örvar Halldórsson to hear about how they're feeling with regards to the game.
"Well I feel like Destiny 2 is in the best place it's ever been," Taylor started. "It feels great to play, we're spending a lot of time playing, we've been talking a lot about how much we play [...] so yeah, with all the stuff coming out - New Light, Stadia, Shadowkeep, Season of the Undying, cross-save going live in mere minutes - there's a lot going on and it's a really fun time."
"Shadowkeep is going to be a really interesting area to explore, you know, it's gonna be the moon," Halldórsson adds. "You know, as someone from Iceland, I'm gonna be thrilled to go to an environment that kind of looks similar to my home country, as people have told me."
Destiny 2 is also getting a big feature called Armour 2.0 as well, adding three mod slots for gear, universal ornaments, and more, and this is something Halldórsson also talked about during our interview:
"Armour 2.0 is definitely like the first step in just deepening the build crafting and making it more of an RPG kind of game, and so I would say once players have kind of gotten their hands on that and they can respond to it, we're gonna be interested in deepening it even more and expanding it to other regions of the game."
In the full interview below we get to hear more about the Shadowkeep expansion and the story that players will unravel within, as well as many more elements of Destiny 2.
Is this Destiny 2's best year?
