Dennaton teases life after Hotline: "it's different" but "you'll know it's us"
We find out more about Hotline Miami 2, the new level editor, and life after Wrong Number.
We caught up with Dennaton Games' Dennis Wedin at E3 (just outside of it actually), and found out what the studio is doing with the sequel to Hotline Miami, the recently announced level editor for Wrong Number, and what's next for the studio.
First we asked how he felt about the series. "Super proud of it first and foremost," Wedin told us. "We have been making - with the first game and the second one - exactly the game that we wanted to make. Don't really care so much about what people think, just making it personal and interesting for us. The first game it was such a surprise that people actually enjoyed it that much. We thought that some may think it's cool like we do, but it was nice to see that so many people have been waiting for a game like that."
Wedin then explained a bit more about the sequel, and what the indie studio has planned for Wrong Number: "A lot of the characters and the story elements and stuff like that, was already planned out when we did the first game. Just me and Jonatan expanding on the story for us. So we always felt that if the first game works, people buy it, we could do a sequel that we wanted to make."
He continued: "It's more like us just fleshing out the story, because the story's very vague, but we have a lot of details and a lot of thoughts to how we make it."
When we asked if they had plans for what they were going to do after Hotline Miami was finished, Wedin simply said "yeah", before going quiet. After a moment (and some laughter) he added that "we have a whole new franchise. It's going to be totally different, but when you see it, you'll know it's us."
