Demon's Souls remaster something Miyazaki "would enjoy"

The From Software president would be careful about the studio to remaster it though, and of course Sony would need to sign off on it.

Fans of the Souls games of course love and cherish the Dark Souls trilogy and Bloodborne, but From Software also has another title that receives a lot of love from the community - Demon's Souls. What about a remaster of this then, like Dark Souls: Remastered?

Well, Game Informer recently spoke to From Software's president and Demon's Souls director Hidetaka Miyazaki about the possibility, and there are a few reasons why we might not be seeing it soon.

"It's like when you write - when you're younger, you look back on [previous work] and you think 'Oh, goodness what was I thinking,'" he explained. "It's not that I'm embarrassed, I just don't like to look at my previous works." What's more is that Sony have to sign off on it as well, as Miyazaki adds.

That opens up the possibility for another studio working on the game, although Miyazaki adds that he'd be careful about who would handle it:

"If it was a studio that really loved the original work and really put their heart and soul into realizing it again, then that's something I would enjoy."

"But it's really complicated because I have these fond memories. Thinking about the idea of a remaster gives me kind of butterflies in my stomach and makes me a little nervous, so it's complicated. But I understand there are many users and many players and fans out there who really love Demon's, so if that's something they could accomplish with a studio that loved the work, then yeah, I'd be okay with that."

Last year From Software shut down Demon's Souls' online servers, so a big advantage of a remaster or re-release would be letting people help or hinder each other online again. That doesn't mean From Software fans have nothing to look forward to though, as Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is releasing on March 22 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, so sharpen your blades for that.

Did Demon's Souls pass you by, or did you brave the challenges when it first released?
