We're starting to see more and more board games based on video games, and a good example of the trend is Deadly Premonition: The Board Game, a Kickstarted interpretation of the cult classic by Access Games that first saw release on Xbox 360 back in 2010.

Now Rising Star Games has confirmed its plan to launch the board game on January 31, when it will be released in both the USA and Europe. Alongside the standard version of the game, there's also going to be a deluxe edition available to buy which includes a few interesting additions, as well as a key for the game on PC (and with an RRP of around $60 or regional equivalent). Co-creator Samuel Elphick described it thus:

"This new Deluxe edition of the board game is in honour of the campaign that made this project possible. It features some of our favourite items which make the board game special and capture that Deadly Premonition spirit. Whack on the soundtrack, lay the cloth upon the table and hold your breath when the Raincoat Killer claims suspects with the bespoke murder die. This is how we want the game to be played!"

Games are for between two and four players, and the creators reckon you're looking at around 30-45 minutes per game. Players will be investigating multiple murder suspects in the town of Greenvale, defending innocents before time runs out, no doubt with a few twists and turns along the way. Sounds intriguing.
