Koch Media CEO Klemens Kundratitz has outlined in an interview with MCV the importance of Dead Island and the progress Dead Island 2 is making, and fans will be delighted to know that it seems to be good news.

"[Dead Island] is a very key IP for us. It put us on the map in the first place," he said. "We have big plans for the franchise with several projects in development. Dead Island 2 is obviously announced and is making fantastic progress at Sumo."

Koch Media outlet Deep Silver changed the developer of Dead Island 2, taking the work away from Berlin based studio Yager Development a while back. The latest thing to happen to the franchise was the closure of servers for MOBA Dead Island: Epidemic during beta in October 2015.

Kundratitz also revealed that a mobile game with the IP is currently in the works. Are you a fan of Dead Island? Would you like to see it return?
