Daemon X Machina was one of the Nintendo games to feature prominently during this year's E3, and as well as seeing more of the game in LA we also got to sit down with producer Kenichiro Tsukuda and find out more about the action-packed mech shooter.

During our chat we talked about potential crossovers, inspirations, and much more, including what you'll be doing in the game and how much content there'll be. With regards to that, producer Tsukuda-san told us that the experience is adaptable based on how much time you've got to spare.

"I think maybe it could range anywhere from 40 to 100 hours, really depending on how much equipment and collection you want to do," the game's producer told us in LA via his translator.

"And there's also the aspect of cooperative multiplayer and competitive multiplayer, so I think it's a game that really accommodates the player's lifestyle and the way they want to play. So if players want to play through the story they can do that. Or if they want to collect a bit more equipment they can play cooperatively and then, with all that gathered equipment, they can then go into competitive play if they want to.

"There's also many characters that appear as NPCs in the story, and when you're going into a battle alone you can opt to have them help you out ... and you can have three characters help you out in battle. And so another aspect is going around and befriending and collecting other characters to fight with you. And these characters [are all very unique] and I'll let everybody play the game and find out what I mean by that," Tsukuda teased.

Daemon X Machina is heading exclusively to Nintendo Switch on September 13.

Daemon X Machina

REVIEW. Written by Kieran Harris

"We envisioned that Daemon X Machina would be a solid return to form for the once-beloved mech shooter genre, but sadly things here just didn't live up to our expectations."
