Cyberpunk 2077 won't be signing exclusivity with Epic Store

One fan took to Twitter to ask CD Projekt Red if they'd do the same as Metro Exodus, and the response was pretty conclusive.

At the end of last month Deep Silver and 4A Games revealed that Metro Exodus would be launching on PC exclusively via the Epic Games Store, something that has caused a fair amount of controversy in the weeks since, and has prompted people to wonder what other games might also opt for the same deal.

Take for example CD Projekt Red's upcoming RPG Cyberpunk 2077. That's also a big game, so could we see the same thing happen here? It turns out that's unlikely, as when one fan asked them not to make it an Epic Games Store exclusive, the official Twitter account for the game simply responded:

"Yeaaaaaaaaah.... Pass on that."

This isn't the first time the Twitter account has posted some rather feisty responses to fan queries, as back in November 2017 they responded to a report that they were considering a games-as-a-service model by saying the following:

"Worry not. When thinking CP2077, think nothing less than TW3 — huge single player, open world, story-driven RPG. No hidden catch, you get what you pay for — no bullshit, just honest gaming like with Wild Hunt. We leave greed to others."

Good news for players wanting to avoid the Epic Games Store then, but we still don't know when the game may land. A new rumour did point to the game being released by March 2020, but with no solid or confirmed info we'll just have to wait patiently. Perhaps the videos below will keep you entertained as you wait.

We should also remind you that the GOG platform is owned by CD Projekt too, so it was always looking unlikely that an Epic deal would be signed.
