Even if you've not played Cuphead for yourself, the chances are you aware of the game's incredible audio-visual style. It's a style that developer Studio MDHR spent a long time honing during the development of the base game, and it would appear that crafting beautiful hand-drawn assets with silky smooth animations is a time-consuming process, which explains why the studio has just announced that the planned DLC expansion for the game, The Delicious Last Course, has been delayed.
According to a statement by developer Chad Moldenhauer, the game needs more time before the "new adventure meets the meticulous level of care and quality we always strive for." That being the case, the expansion is set to land at some point in 2020.
"We want to be absolutely certain that this next adventure feels at home in the world of Cuphead and is full of moments that surprise and delight players. Furthermore, the development of the original game taught us a great deal about the importance of making things in a way that's healthy and sustainable for our team.
"With that in mind, we're taking a page out of Chef Saltbaker's book, and spending the necessary time to get the recipe just right - this means that we'll be moving the release of The Delicious Last Course to 2020. This wasn't an easy decision to make, but we're confident it's one that will result in a higher quality experience that's all the sweeter when it does arrive."
The DLC will star a new playable character, Ms Chalice, and she will be playable across the new isle and the original game, giving you new bosses to battle as well as letting you experience the base game in a new way (with a bunch of new tricks, including double jump).
