CryEngine have launched an Indie Development Fund with $1 million committed to help support indie projects created with CRYENGINE.
Indie developers have until September 9 to apply for a grant in this initiative and they can lobby using a showcase gallery on the CRYENGINE website too. This allows the community to vote on the indie ideas they want to see funded.
To be eligible for one of these grants, the projects should already be in progress without a publishing or development deal already in place. The first recipients of the grant will be announced at the end of September with future rounds every three months.
The CryEngine V Pay What You Want business model, allowing allocation of up to 70% of any contribution to the fund, can also help developers receive contributions.
Business Development Director for CryEngine George Scotto said "The Indie Development Fund is our way of supporting developers who have the creativity and talent, but perhaps not that little bit of financial backing that can make all the difference. Every day we see our community do awesome and unexpected things with CryEngine, and with this fund we will support the most innovative and inspiring work. We're very excited by the applications we've already received, and we can't wait to help developers achieve their vision, whether on established platforms or the new generation of VR HMDs".
More on the fund can be found on the official website.
