Cross-play isn't guaranteed for Overwatch on Switch

We also have confirmation that Blizzard's game runs at 30 FPS, with 900p docked and 720p undocked.

Overwatch was only just revealed for the Nintendo Switch earlier this week (after a leaked case seemed to confirm it), and if you've been wondering about cross-play, Blizzard has clarified the situation in a statement to Engadget:

"We've seen how compelling cross-system play can be for our community, and we're excited about the potential. There's still a lot of work to do on both our side and the platforms' side to determine whether this is something that makes sense for Overwatch, and we're keeping an eye on how cross-play systems and technology develop."

What's more is that Nazih Fares - IMEA communications manager for Blizzard - has also confirmed on Twitter that "Overwatch runs smoothly at 30fps with outputs of 900p docked and 720p undocked" on Nintendo's console.

It's worth clearing some memory on your Switch before the game's arrival next month though, as even the boxed version contains a code to download the game, and the official game page says we'll need 12.1 GB.

Will Switch be your preferred platform?
