The American esports organisation Cloud9 has announced its decision to pause its involvement in the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive scene. The organisation has stated that Covid-19 has affected its ability to build a roster and that while it does intend to take a step back from the scene, it remains "passionate" about competing in CS:GO. The statement reads as follows.

"At this time, we've made the decision to pause our involvement in CS:GO. COVID has prevented us from assembling the team in North America as we'd originally planned, and though everyone has worked hard to rise to the challenge, the reality is that remote training isn't conducive for building an organization in the way Cloud9 usually does.

We remain passionate about competing in CS:GO, and once conditions allow us to work and train in the ways we know help the teams to be successful, we'll return to competitive play. We're grateful to HenryG & the players for their hard work over the past few months, and we'll be cheering them on in their next endeavours."
