Already this year we have reported on a lot of job cuts in our industry, from Activision laying off 800 staff to reports this week of EA laying off 350 staff, so it's refreshing to see that Polish developer CD Projekt Red might have some brighter news for us when it comes to staff.

In their earnings call for the 2018 financial year (as transcribed by Seeking Alpha), Chief Financial Officer Piotr Nielubowicz said the following about new opportunities for jobs:

"Moving on to the balance sheet, a new item that appeared in our asset is real estate. Last year at the end and we brought a plot of land neighboring our current seat alongside an office building extending that. The building gives the possibility of developing some 3,000 new square meters of office space where we will be able to develop our current activity. 3,000 square meters, a slightly less than current half of the current seating also of our company. So, probably, we will be able to provide 250 new jobs for CD Projekt Group and GOG."

Activision received criticism for their layoffs because the company had registered impressive financial results, but here - as reported by GamesIndustry.biz - CD Projekt Red has created jobs despite revenue being down from €109.1 million the year before to €85 million, with profit dipping from €47.1 million to €25.6 million too.
