It was suggested when Activision Blizzard picked up Candy Crush behemoth King and now it's been confirmed. King has put their Stockholm studio in charge of creating a mobile Call of Duty game. Naturally in close co-operation with the Activision team responsible for the franchise.

According to King their "challenge as a team is to create a Call of Duty experience on mobile that will strive to transform the best console experience fans know and love, while also breaking new ground for mobile and redefining the genre. Our approach and ambition is to be fresh, social, and highly accessible, while providing a very authentic game experience."

Clearly, Call of Duty is a far cry from what King are best known for, but the studio has previously talked about moving into what's often referred to as the mid-core market, with deeper gameplay experiences.
