Boston Dynamics has given the world such a plentiful array of amazing robots over the years. Between Spot the Dog and the humanoid Atlas, the boundaries of robotic endeavours have been routinely tested by the company, and the next step forward will revolve around replacing old hydraulic systems with an all-electric alternative.

The company has revealed that Atlas is being retired and being replaced by a 2.0 model of sorts that is a fully electric version. The company states, "The next generation of the Atlas program builds on decades of research and furthers our commitment to delivering the most capable, useful mobile robots solving the toughest challenges in industry today".

Boston Dynamics also adds that while this new Atlas is once again a bipedal robot that is designed to resemble a humanoid form, it will not be restricted to human movement and will have new ways to move in a more agile, dextrous, and strong manner.
