Borderlands 3 was released last Friday, and while we don't have any sales numbers yet, there are signs the game is off to a good start, at least on PC. The source for this is Randy Pitchford himself, head honcho and founder of Gearbox, who tweeted this during the weekend:
"Fun Fact: On PC, the data is that the launch day peak concurrent players of Borderlands 3 is about *twice-as-high* as the all time peak concurrent players of Borderlands 2. WOW! You guys are great!"
Considering how big Borderlands 2 became, with roughly 14 million sold games, this seems to be good news, especially since Borderlands 3 was released exclusively for Epic Games Store on PC.
We'll likely get information on how it did for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well during this week, but there's really nothing suggesting that it won't be the same success as on PC.
We found out just today that it debuted at the top of the UK physical charts as well, breaking Days Gone's record for the biggest boxed release of the year.
