Now it's been a long time (six years or something like that) that I worked full-time in a store and thus trudged home on Fridays and took what is called "weekend". In Norway, (almost all) stores are also closed on Sundays so there was never the risk (except during December so the money has to come in) that you would go on a Sunday shift. (I did have to work one Saturday every month, though).
But, the question is if Fridays, when the weekend starts - is the best day? Or are Saturdays simply better? Of course, there is a certain fatigue after a work shift, which means that Fridays can feel a bit like it's "over" when you're trudging home. When you wake up on a Saturday, you have the whole day ahead of you. It is the day when activities and parties can be advantageously planned. A day full of fun!
Do you disqualify Sundays, you think? We're sure to have some Sunday lovers as well and sure, there are probably good reasons to love this day the most. It can in many ways be quite cozy when the mess has subsided and you hopefully just take it easy. If Marcus and I had lived closer to each other, Sundays would have been our "friends build Lego" day.
So, for a poor person who hasn't felt that "Now it's the weekend" happiness for years, where every day really is regardless of whether it's Tuesday or Saturday (Although I actually try to have a little weekend feeling by just playing writer on weekdays), the question is: Which, and more specifically why, is the very best day of the week?
