We are starting to reach the era when our absolute greatest legends will start to say goodbye. Those who broke through in the 70s and also to some extent the 80s have simply become too old. Tragic and some really feel irreplaceable.

That celebrities die is of course sad, even if it's not someone you know. But sometimes it hits harder. And the last few months have certainly not been mild for me. In July, as you know, Hulk Hog an died, a man who has really influenced me over the years, and whom I would describe as something of a hero to me. For my part, Hulkamania will definitely live forever as some kind of guiding star.

Fast forward to yesterday, and another icon I'd looked up to went away, namely Tomonobu Itagaki. If you've ever been to my editorial profile, you know that for over two decades I've ranked him as my favorite producer of games of all time. And I barely had time to start mourning it before it became clear that Ace Frehley now put the guitar on the shelf and left to hang out with Ozzy and Lemmy.

Kiss was my first favorite band and they have been with me all my life, and I have thankfully also had time to see them live in the early 2000s. In the band, it was always Ace I liked best. His songs belonged (and are) among the favorites and he remains my favorite guitarist ever.

I want to thank Ace for all the lovely music, and Itagaki will have its own tribute article tomorrow.

But now 2025 for h-e will have to give way, right?

Trust that there will be Ace Frehley and Kiss popped at my house today.
