Now it's time to make a film adaptation of Robotech 🇸🇪
This post is tagged as: ,After trying with Cowboy Bebop, and almost desecrating the original series, Netflix got the film adaptation of One Piece. Perhaps Hollywood has finally begun to understand how to turn classic anime and manga series into feature films without losing its soul (although it clearly helped that the creator was involved in the project).
Next I hope for something else. Even though it would be fun with Rurouni Kenshin and Naruto, for example, there is one title that deserves the treatment better, namely Robotech. Here I see in front of me how some people scream in anger at the screen and think that it should of course be the Japanese original Macross that is interpreted - and don't worry. I have full control of these parts.
However, robotics was what many of us grew up with, and it was very well adapted for Westerners, and in many ways easier to make into a film. We're talking about a series that mixes epic space opera, mecha action and human drama in a way that few others have done the same in the same way. The big robot battles and missile swarms would do perfectly with today's effects, and the melodramatic core has everything it takes to engage both old and new audiences.
In addition, the time is just right. Top Gun: Maverick has already clearly illustrated that audiences love aviation action, and that Dune and Foundation prove that ambitious sci-fi sells. Robotech feels perfect in many ways, although of course it will require a director who knows the original series.

Time to make a film of this. Well?
