Operation Spectre Rising lands in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 for PS4 today, and developer Treyarch has released a ton of details about the update on their blog, which has something for fans of all the game modes to enjoy.
With Multiplayer fans can expect a new specialist called Spectre, as well as the new game modes Prop Hunt (a favourite in the series we've seen with the likes of WWII) and Capture the Flag. We also get extra Barebones modes and the new maps for Black Ops Pass owners, these being Masquerade, Artifact, and WMD, with Hacienda Twilight coming as an Alt Map.
Those playing Blackout can expect new map updates, as the Hydro Dam has been sabotaged to flood the map in Wetworks. Alcatraz has also had "improvements to gameplay flow and layout," and there are new game modes like Bounty Hunter - requiring you to find a blade to become Spectre - as well as Ground War, a large-scale team versus team battle.
Elsewhere in Blackout we have new characters like Uncle Frank (a Black Ops Pass warrior), Misty, Sergei, Sarah Hall, Blackjack, and David Mason, as well as weapons, equipment, and more.
In Zombies we have new Gauntlets, these being Super Blood Wolf Moon (Dead of the Night) and Labours of Hercules (Ancient Evil), appearing alongside a new Mystery Box weapon and the new feature of Classic Elixir Restock.
Competitive players have new World League Hub features as well, including a suspension system, increased penalties, and tighter matchmaking based on skill, and you can find more on the Black Market too, including the characters listed above, and 50 unique Tiers "paced to align with the first half of the Operation." There will be a smaller amount of content for a shorter time, since a new set of unique content is coming in the Days of Summer event in June, meaning more frequent updates "that establishes a steadier cadence," a complaint that has been leveled at the game in the past.
We can also expect to see Weapon Charms and Death Effects in the Black Market for the first time, with the charms similar to what we've seen in games like Rainbow Six: Siege. The Death Effects, however, provide unique effects when you kill an enemy, one of which sprays confetti from your foe.
