Black Future '88

Black Future '88 is heading to Nintendo Switch

The dystopian sci-fi roguelike is going to be a console exclusive on Switch, Good Shepherd has confirmed.

Black Future '88 is set in a grim dystopian world where it's always a perpetual sci-fi version of 1988. The horror! That's why the game by SuperScarySnakes is drenched in neon and filled with homicidal robots that need to be dispatched on your way to your date with destiny.

Players take on the role of one of the last remaining survivors of a nuclear event, and it sounds like we'll be climbing a tower (that, in true roguelike fashion, is procedurally generated) that houses a boss who has the key to stopping your heart from exploding. Or something like that.

This platform adventure, which was originally announced for PC, is also coming to the Switch, according to publisher Good Shepherd Entertainment. In fact, it's going to be a console exclusive on Nintendo's platform when it lands later this year, and this newly announced version of the game will support the Joy-Cons by offering couch co-op, and there'll also be daily challenges and a global leaderboard to contest if that's your jam.

A trailer landed alongside the announcement - because that's how these things are done - and you can check it out below.
