We caught up with Bethesda VP of PR and marketing, Pete Hines, to talk about the launch of the card game The Elder Scrolls: Legends and what lies beyond the launch.

"We've been doing a lot of card balancing", says Hines. "We're pretty aggressive about changing card values and what they do to make sure that the meta game stays balanced. We want to have a lot of different kinds of decks and I think we're in a really good place with that right now.

The Fall of the Dark Brotherhood launches on April 5th and brings not just new cards but also a brand new campaign that's actually longer than the main one that comes with the base game. But Hines also revealed that a full on expansion is planned for later this year.

"The next thing that we're going to do, and we're going to announce it and talk about it at E3 is a really big new set", says Hines. "A lot more than 40 cards, it'll be the kind of thing where it will come with its own packs that you'll open. We're still talking about when and how to inject more singleplayer content along the way, even with that stuff, and we really want to see how people react to The Fall of the Dark Brotherhood story and figure out what to do a little bit more of, what to do a little bit less of, or to do it different. The great thing about a digital card game is you can kind of do and change whatever you want, any time you want."

Speaking of Bethesda.net and what the platform allows for in terms of multiplatform compatibility Hines had this to say:

"For us it's definitely a help to have a platform that's our own platform where we can make changes whenever we want and not have to rely on somebody else", explains Hines.

Whether or not Legends will come to say PS4 or Xbox One is more a matter of whether it is deemed that the resources needed to make it a good experience are best spent on that job.

REVIEW. Written by Ford James

"The tactical options available to you should ensure that people pick up and play the game, even if they're in the door purely for The Elder Scrolls name alone."
