Bethesda addresses calls for a The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered patch following Switch 2 release
The demands for a patch aren't concerned with the Nintendo Switch 2 port of the game, but instead come from people playing on other platforms.
If a game still requires some proper fixes, and then goes to release on another platform before delivering those fixes, you might start to wonder if your bug fixes are ever going to arrive. Bethesda has stepped in to say that they will, and Nintendo Switch 2 owners of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered have a sneak peek of the optimisation arriving soon to other platforms.
Underneath an X/Twitter post reminding gamers that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is available on Nintendo Switch 2 right now, Bethesda responded with a statement about the demand for a fresh patch for the game. "We've heard your feedback asking for an additional patch for Oblivion Remastered. The Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game has a number of optimizations that we are looking into bringing to other platforms and we will share more when we are able," the developer wrote.
While this promised that something was coming, it was not enough to please everyone. Fans commenting underneath Bethesda's post demanded performance and bug fixes to be made a priority, as well as a fix to the lock-on in third-person combat. Here's hoping the optimisation available in the Nintendo Switch 2 version can remedy some of these woes.
