Bethesda's Todd Howard took to the stage during Bethesda's E3 press briefing to first apologise for the state of Fallout 76 at launch, but then to introduce a couple of significant changes coming to the game. Developers Tom Mustaine and Jeff Gardiner then grabbed the baton and made the announcements.
The first big addition is a much-requested feature, and that's human NPCs. They're coming to the game and they'll be part of a big narrative push that should add a whole new dimension to the online RPG. The free update is called Wastelanders and it tells a story of people returning to Appalachia, and we'll be able to choose our dialogue options and then we'll have to live with the consequences.
The other addition coming to the game was a bit more unexpected. Nuclear Winter is a new 52-player battle royale mode that is joining the game tomorrow. Fallout 76 is also free for the next week, starting from June 10, so you can check out the new mode if you're intrigued to see how it works.
