Aveline de Grandpré, the star of Assassin's Creed III: Liberation, will make a comeback in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. The assassin from the PS Vita title will return later this year, but only on PS3 and PS4 versions of the latest game in the series.

Jill Murray, the writer who penned Aveline's original story, is once again handling the narrative, which picks up long after the events that transpired in Liberation.

"It's a ways forward so Aveline is a bit older," Lead Writer Darby McDevitt revealed. "It's not directly related to the end of her story. If Assassin's Creed IV is like a novel, Aveline's missions are like a short story."

The three new Aveline missions (which are roughly an hour long combined) are centered around Abstergo and the Animus upgrades made by the company. "The present-day is set in Abstergo Entertainment - which is this fun, hip company to work for... at first," McDevitt added during a panel at the San Diego Comic Con. "You are able to access the Aveline stuff because your coworkers are working on retrieving different genetic memories from all kinds of different people."

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is set to be released on October 31 on current-gen consoles, with PS4 and Xbox One versions to be released after their respective launches.
