Rage 2 is being developed as a partnership between id Software and Avalanche Studios, and when we talked to id's Studio Director Tim Willits at QuakeCon, he told us that having Avalanche on board is a great thing for id, especially given the freedom that the studio gets to do what they want with.

"So the Avalanche team is amazing to work with, and they have years of experience, and we wanted Rage 2 to deliver on the promise of Rage, and vehicle combat is critical," Willits explained. "And one of the great things about the Avalanche team is that they have all this experience, and now they're not constrained; they can do whatever they want. They want big explosions? We can have big explosions. They want crazy cars? We can have crazy cars. We have this really rich universe that allows us to just do whatever we want, so we bring that experience with the untethered creativity, and great things happen."

Is Avalanche and id Software the perfect pair?

REVIEW. Written by Kim Orremark

"It can be really fun, but in many ways, the experience feels stretched out and the content on offer doesn't match up with the quality of the minute-to-minute gameplay."
