If you've not already done so, we suggest you take a look at our Part 1 and Part 2 guide. Done? Good, then let us continue.

The third wing of the Blackrock Mountain adventure is not as imaginative as the previous efforts, in particular Molten Core, which so far is the best wing. Still, you will find three bosses that will make you fight hard to earn a victory. This time you have to use very different tactics to overthrow Highlord Omokk, General Drakkisath and Rend Blackhand, but as always, a good dose of luck is also key to get the win. Below we present the best tactics for tackling each boss, plus examples of decks that aren't very expensive, and therefore can be improved with your own cards.

Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft

Highlord Omokk

This ugly ogre starts the battle with 30 points of health and 15 armour, and that's not that scary for a Boss. However, his ability "Me Smash", allows him to maintain a tremendous amount of control over the board, as he can destroy a player's minion each turn. His lackeys, mostly ogres, are dangerous, but fortunately can be countered relatively easily.

Strategy: It's very difficult to get into a minion battle with Omokk, due to his ability, although it is possible with some decks, particularly Paladin, Shaman and Druid. However, in our experience, the most effective method to defeat Omokk is with a heavy control deck. Your goal should be to clear the board from every minion Omokk summons, until he runs out of cards to play, and thus, loses the match. Use cards that require Omokk to draw more cards than he needs and use your weapons, spells and minions to clean up the board.

Deck (Warrior): Execute (2), Shield Slam (2), Whirlwind (2), Cleave (2), Slam (2), Nerubian Egg (2), Shield Block (2), Big Game Hunter (1), Coldlight Oracle (2), Dancing Swords (2), Death's Bite (2), Mortal Strike (2), Kor'kron Elite (2), Arcanite Reaper (2), Brawl (1), Antique Healbot (2)

General Drakkisath

This battle with General Drakkisath can be quite frustrating. At 50 health points and 30 armour, Drakkisath is a tough boss, but that's not what makes him dangerous. His Intense Gaze ability is what makes this battle so unbalanced. This skill is passive, not active, and means that both the player's cards and Drakkisath's only cost one mana crystal each. The problem is that Drakissath has two mana crystals and the player only one, for the entire match, and that means that while the player is limited to play a card per turn, Drakissath can play two cards each turn. And don't bother trying to gain mana crystals or otherwise reduce the price of your cards to zero, because it won't work.

Strategy: Our strategy to defeat Drakkisath is based in a single card - Kel'Thuzad. His ability to resurrect any friendly lackey killed by the end of each turn is precious in this match. Incidentally, if you manage to get Kel'Thuzad and a minion with Taunt on the board at the same time, Drakkisath won't even try to attack the player's minions. You also need to be aware there's several cards Drakkisath can use to destroy Kel'Thuzad, so it's imperative that you duplicate him as soon as possible, either with Faceless Manipulator or the Mage's Duplicate. As for the enemy minions, try to leave some alive so the Boss won't use Twisting Nether, which destroys all the minions on the board.

Deck (Mage): Mirror Image (2), Duplicate (2), Polymorph (1), Mogu'shan Warden (2), Sen'jin Shieldmasta (2), Booty Bay Bodyguard (2), Faceless Manipulator (2), Feugen (1), Frostwolf Warlod (2), Stalagg (1), Archmage (2), Boulderfist Ogre (2), Lords of the Arena (2), Core Hound (2), Stormwind Champion (2), War Golem (2), Kel'thuzad (1)

Rend Blackhand

Rend is a peculiar boss, since he doesn't have one skill, but several. Every time he uses his current skill, it changes randomly. This makes him a bit unpredictable. Most of his skills allow him to invoke groups of enemies, most with reduced health. As far as his resistance goes, Rend is not very strong (for a Boss), limited at getting by with 30 health points and 15 armour.

Strategy: Rend's abilities mean he can fill the board with minions in record time. Fortunately, this lackeys are somewhat fragile, and can be easily eliminated with several cards. We opted to go with a Hunter deck since this is the class that best interacts and counters Rend's abilities, with cards like Explosive Trap and Unleash the Hounds.

Deck (Hunter): Leper Gnome (2), Timber Wolf (2), Undertaker (2), Webspinnder (2), Explosive Trap (2), Annoy-o-Tron (2), Haunted Creeper (2), Knife Juggler (2), Mad Scientist (2), Scavenging Hyena (2), Eaglehorn Bow (2), Animal Companion (2), Kill Command (2), Unleash the Hounds (2), Houndmaster (2)
