It's been a while since we reporting on the "clay and puppet animated" adventure game Armikrog that was successfully kickstarted to the tune of $974,578 (target $900,000) in January 2013. With 2014 (the intended release year) drawing to a close it has now been announced that Pencil Test Studios will team up with publisher Versus Evil to bring the game to players in early 2015 on Linux, Mac and PC. The press release makes no mention of Wii U (that was funded on Kickstarter via stretch goal), but we presume that is still on track for a release at a later date.

"We're very excited to be working with the team at Versus Evil," said Mike Dietz, Pencil Test's co-founder. "Having successfully gone through the challenges of securing Kickstarter funding for Armikrog, we focused all our efforts on developing the game. After chatting to Versus Evil, it quickly became clear that they were not only the right fit for us on a personal level, but that they also had the publishing experience we needed to help launch Armikrog globally".

Armikrog comes from the creative minds, Mike Dietz and Ed Schofield, who gave us Earthworm Jim and Neverhood. Armikrog is also notable for its high level voice talent that includes Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite), Michael J Nelson (Mystery Science Theatre 3000), and Rob Paulson (Pinky and the Brain).

"There is simply nothing like Armikrog and our team couldn't be happier to be working with such a creative team" said Steve Escalante, General Manager of Versus Evil. "It is a magical experience walking into their studio to see all the handcrafted sets, puppets and props. The combination of traditional clay sculpting with stop motion animation delivers such a unique look and an in-game aesthetic so genuine, it draws you in. The team at Pencil Test have created one of the most unique and beautiful game experiences I have ever seen".
