Late last year Bohemia Interactive announced Project Argo. It's a conversion of Arma 3 into a 5v5 online shooter with three game modes. Two of those are "capture-and-control" related, while the third is "attack-and-defend".
Now we've got a little more information, including a final name, as the game is now called just Argo, and it will be released as a free-to-play title on June 22.
Fighting takes place on the island Malden, which was also the setting for the first Arma game. Argo will be more fast-paced and more competitive than what players are used to in Arma. The emphasis will still be on teamwork and communication, though.
There will also be a co-op mode called Combat Patrol, where up to 10 players can take on AI enemies and complete missions in a randomised open world.
Argo will be available on Steam and the Bohemia Store. There will be no microtransactions. Those who wish to show their support for the game may do so by buying an Argo Supporter's Pack for 10 euros. It will include: "a set of 14 exclusive animations for the MVP screen, bundle of 22 unique apparel items, including facewear and headwear, and backpacks (these items are purely cosmetic and do not offer any gameplay benefits), highlighted name in the leaderboards, access to premium servers that will be exclusively available for Argo Supporters and access to vehicles in Argo's Scenario Editor".
Argo's Scenario Editor is a 3D Scenario Editor from Arma 3. Players can use it to create their own Argo game modes.
