The NPD Group is a market research company that often gives us rather interesting figures for the industry, and analyst Mat Piscatella has taken to Twitter to talk about February sales in the US, with Anthem being the best-selling game in a month that saw PC and video game software increase 15% when compared to February 2018.
In terms of the top 20 best-selling games it might surprise you to see Jump Force in second place, followed by Kingdom Hearts III, Far Cry New Dawn, and Red Dead Redemption 2. In fact, Jump Force managed the third highest total of launch month sales ever achieved for a game published by Bandai Namco.
Metro Exodus wasn't shy in breaking records either, as the eighth best-selling game of last month set a new franchise record for launch month sales, beating Last Light by almost 50%.
Going back to Anthem though, this is now the second best-selling game of the year so far, and represents the second highest launch month sales for a game developed by Bioware, only falling short of the March 2012 release of Mass Effect 3.
For a game that's been getting a lot of heat online recently - including a player report showing issues with loot becoming irrelevant with update 1.0.3 and continued online criticism which Bioware has responded to - it seems as if the developer might not be in danger as some have feared, since the sales seem to be going smoothly thus far. Proof will be in the longevity of this title though, since that's what the experience is built around.
