It's the moment Animal Crossing fans have been waiting for, a release date for the next game in the series on Switch! Unfortunately, you'll have to wait a little while longer for that release, as Animal Crossing: New Horizons (as it's now called), is set to launch on March 20, 2020.

A new trailer was shown off alongside the title and release date confirmation, which looked at some of the new game mechanics coming to this entry. The first thing the trailer gave off was Pocket Camp vibes, as this Switch release certainly looks like it may borrow from parts of Animal Crossing's mobile debut.

The camp itself is an obvious link, but the addition of crafting that was brought in with Pocket Camp also looks like it will be returning. The setting of New Horizons looks like it may be based off the bonus island from Animal Crossing: New Leaf, with the community possibly migrating to a new area.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be out on Nintendo Switch on March 20, 2020.
