HQ

A is for Alien: Isolation

We've played the demo of Alien: Isolation, and it scared the crap out of us (not literally, thankfully). We can't wait to see more of Sega and Creative Assembly's sci-fi horror game, and with it set to hit later this year, we're expecting to see quite a bit of this one. Let's hope we don't see too much, because perhaps with a title like this, the less you know the better.

HQ

B is for Batman: Arkham Knight

This is an ad:

While it's no surprise that Rocksteady announced the third (and final) entry in their Arkham series, we're still super excited to see and hear more from the studio at this year's E3. It's pegged to land in 2014 on new-gen consoles, and if the studio are going to hit that launch window (likely the end of the year) then Batman's next outing is already well into the development.

HQ

C is for The Crew

With a release looming at the end of the summer ("back to school" was the official line from Ubisoft), we're likely going to see plenty and more of The Crew next month. For those who don't know, it's an open-world vehicular MMO where players can drive across the entirety of the US of A, and from what we've played so far, it's shaping up very nicely indeed.

HQ

D is for Destiny

Bungie's Halo-followup has us salivating. Those who've played it enjoyed what they've seen so far, and the rest of us, who're watching from afar with longing in our eyes, can't wait to jump on the beta (that's coming this summer). So far we've seen co-op gameplay, so at this year's show expect to see some of the PvP on show.

HQ

E is for Evolve

Turtle Rock's Evolve is another of our most anticipated titles of the year, with the mix between co-op and versus multiplayer, and the chance to control huge beasties and be both hunter and hunted, our interest is piqued to dangerous levels. We've not seen much so far, with just one monster on show so far, so expect the studio to reveal more of their hand at this year's E3.

HQ

F is for Far Cry 4

Far Cry 4 has only been public for a few days and already it's courting controversy. That furore aside, the fun we had with Far Cry 3 means that this sequel automatically has our attention. All we've seen so far a couple of images showing off the new villain, and with the game coming at the end of this year, expect fireworks at E3 next month.

An A-Z Guide to Games at E3

G is for Gauntlet

Earlier this year we stopped by Arrowhead Game Studios in Stockholm, Sweden, for a taste of their re-imagining of the arcade classic, Gauntlet. Our session left our asses tingling for more and it seems the Magicka developers are a perfect match for the classic that is in dire need of a great comeback.

HQ

H is for Halo 5: Guardians

Master Chief is coming back to us in 2015. So far, all we've seen of John 117 is what we were shown at last year's show, and that wasn't much. There's a load of Halo-centric rumours doing the rounds at the moment (with talk of several HD remasters on the way later this year), and we're hoping and expecting some clarification at E3 this year.

HQ

I is for IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad

Flight sims don't generate too much widespread interest, but IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad is the sequel to probably the best received flight sim ever (though the original Red Baron still holds a special place in our heart), and we can't wait to see whether the original can be bettered. We certainly hope it can be, and we'll likely see more at E3 next month.

HQ

J is for Just Cause 3

It's one of the worst kept secrets in the industry. Avalanche Studios are working on Just Cause 3 - sequel to the critically acclaimed open world sandbox game that perhaps more so than any other puts the player in charge of the experience. With the Stockholm office working on Mad Max (due out in 2015), it's likely the new New York-based studio that's working on Just Cause 3, and an announcement at this year's E3 seems appropriate. Fingers crossed.

K is for Killing Floor 2

Announced just the other day, Killing Floor 2 looks like it's going to be a gruesome treat, with developers Tripwire Interactive working hard to ensure more blood splatter than we've ever seen below. So far access to the shooter has been limited, so expect the floodgates to open next month, and look forward to plenty of head poppin' action from L.A.

An A-Z Guide to Games at E3

L is for The Legend of Zelda Wii U

Is there a game heading to Wii U with more riding on its shoulders? Now that Mario's main offerings are out in the wild, we certainly can't think of any. We don't know much about the next entry, but Nintendo rarely puts a foot wrong with their fantasy RPG series, and we're not expecting them to start now. Let's hope we find out more at E3.

An A-Z Guide to Games at E3

M is for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

We've had a little taste of Metal Gear Solid V with the prologue, Ground Zeroes, and we're expecting nothing short of a return to greatness for Kojima's next numbered entry in the series. What we've seen so far has us intrigued (both PR and the extended demo that is Ground Zeroes), and we can't to see more.

HQ

N is for No Man's Sky

Nobody expected No Man's Sky, with Hello Games' credits coming into the announcement including games like Joe Danger. That's history now, and the procedurally generated world(s) created here, and the exploration we'll be able to do among them, marks this as one of the most interesting games we've ever clapped eyes on. Realising that level of potential, and with such a small team, is going to be quite a challenge. Here's hoping Hello can pull it off.

HQ

O is for The Order: 1886

A lot is resting on the shoulders of The Order: 1886. Sure Sony have a ton of exclusives, but not so many of them are triple-A blockbuster potential, and with that in mind, they need The Order to deliver. We've still not seen enough to get excited about this one (although we do like the Victorian sci-fi stylings), so let's hope that come the end of E3, that's changed.

HQ

P is for Project CARS

Project CARS is heading to new-gen consoles, after developers Slightly Mad Studios decided it could look even better on the new platforms (although it's still heading to Wii U). The racing specialists recently announced that the game would support Project Morpheus, and that certainly has our attention.

HQ

Q is for Quantum Break

Quantum Break is a unique proposition. Blending gaming and cinematic storytelling, similar to Heavy Rain but different, intriguing all over. It could well be the first of many genuine next-gen experiences, the kind of experiences that we've been waiting for, something to unlock the potential of the new generation of hardware. Here's hoping.

HQ

R is for Rainbow 6: Patriots

Where you at, Rainbow 6? It's a question we're asking ourselves as the most recently announced Rainbow 6 title has been kept in the dark ever since its announcement in November, 2011. Rumoured to have been rebooted at least a couple of times since, we're not sure just what to expect from it when it is re-revealed. Nevertheless we're excited for its return, as it's been a very long wait for Team Rainbow since Rainbow Six: Vegas 2. Here's hoping we'll be re-introduced with this game at E3.

An A-Z Guide to Games at E3

S is for Star Citizen

Star Citizen is a crowdfunded behemoth, attracting a constant stream of money from excited space explorers the world over. The attention it's getting looks well deserved, and it looks like it's going to be one of those experiences that can only happen on PC. Throw in Wing Commander Chris Roberts and planned VR support, and you've got us interested.

HQ

T is for Tales from the Borderlands

Telltale Games are trying to rub their storytelling magic into another cel-shaded gaming property, namely Gearbox's Borderlands series. From a visual perspective it looks a good fit, but with the studio already working on Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, our only worry is that they might be spreading themselves too thin. Let's hope we're wrong.

HQ

U is for Uncharted 4

Another big hitter for Sony, Nathan Drake is set to return in the next chapter of the Uncharted series. Naughty Dog have been doing a cracking job of late, so let's hope that they continue that trend, because if there's one series we're looking forward to seeing on our PS4, it's this one.

HQ

V is for Volume

We recently talked with creator Mike Bithell and got a better look at the follow up to Thomas Was Alone. In truth, Volume and Thomas have very little in common, with one being a quirky platform game, the other a stealth game that takes away death in an effort to make us play smart. Oh, and did we mention that it's a take on the Robin Hood story?

HQ

W is for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

One of our most anticipated titles, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt looks like a single-player treat in the making. The concluding chapter of Geralt's trilogy, we can't wait to see where CD Projekt Red are going to take us. We saw them recently and they had nothing new to show, presumably because they were holding the good stuff back for E3.

HQ

X is for X

Monolith Soft's X surfaced briefly and then disappeared, so we think it's about time that we got to see more of the game at this year's E3. X may well be a working title, but it works nicely in our A-Z so we're not arguing.

HQ

Y is for Yoshi's Land

Another one that reared its head for a short time (in a Nintendo Direct if memory serves). It looks like the loveable dinosaur will be heading to Wii U at some point, and let's face it, the platform needs games if it's to carry on. Nintendo needs to make sure that Yoshi's next game is a winner, but given the company's pedigree, you wouldn't bet against it.

An A-Z Guide to Games at E3

Z is for Zwei

Yeah, we're grasping here for something to write about starting with the letter Z. Zwei was the working title of Shinji Mikami's return to survival horror that was subsequently renamed The Evil Within. It's an interesting game, one of very few triple A survival horror titles coming out of Japan recently and as it races towards its release date in late August we expect it to make a lot of noise at E3.
