You might be used to using your Alexa device to play music or ask questions, but as reported by Sun Sentinel (and brought to us by The Guardian), it may prove useful in Florida to help with a possible murder case, in which Adam Crespo claims his wife Sylvia Galva Crespo was tragically killed by a spear in an accident.

However, the police believe the Amazon Echo device may have captured something of importance in the case, as "audio recordings capturing the attack on victim Silvia Crespo that occurred in the main bedroom ... may be found on the server maintained by or for Amazon," according to a legal filing.

"We did receive recordings, and we are in the process of analyzing the information that was sent to us," Hallandale Beach's Sgt. Pedro Abut told the Sun Sentinel.

Adam Crespo claims the spear snapped during an altercation, with the blade accidentally killing his wife, and Alexa's smart technology may well be the deciding factor in this case.

We send our thoughts to Sylvia Crespo's family.
