The impossible match up of an invisible team of attackers and an invincible team of defenders is what Aftercharge is all about. Chainsawesome Games returned to PAX East to show off a new map, and a couple of new characters fresh of the announcement of the game coming to Nintendo Switch with cross-play multiplayer between PC, Switch, and Xbox One.

"We have always been designing Aftercharge with teamwork in mind", says Mercure. "I mean you can play Aftercharge solo with two people you don't know and don't communicate, you'll still have fun. But it's not how it's been designed. It's designed for three people to work together, coordinate, strategise, and execute as a team."

Speaking of the new map, that comes with a "bottom-level, mid-level, and high-level", Mercure noted it makes life easier for the invisible robots on the attack. He also mentioned how the characters have been designed with the idea that each special ability can be used both offensively and defensively.

Speaking about the cross-play functionality that Chainsawesome Games plans to bring Mercure had this to say:

"In terms of technicality, I don't know the specifics, but I know it is possible and that's what we're aiming for. Everything is all set up at the studio to do that. We wanted to have those three platforms and have them cross-play, because we want to release the game with a big player volume. So we have the combined power of the three platforms, so we should have enough players so people don't take too long to find a game."

The plan is to release the game on all three platforms "by the end of the summer", but Mercure did leave a caveat for the Switch version as it's their first game on the platform and it could therefore possibly slip.
