A new trailer sheds some light on NBA Playgrounds
It's more of an arcade style of basketball.
During the big Nindies reveal earlier this year, we saw the logo of a basketball game that hadn't been announced before, NBA Playgrounds, but now developer Saber Interactive has shown us a bit more of the game via a new trailer.
In NBA Playgrounds, you control a couple of players to face rivals in the streets, and with cartoonish art style and arcade gameplay, this isn't exactly your sports simulation game. Matt Karch, CEO of Saber, told IGN that it has "a lot of depth for hardcore pros who've mastered their game," but is still accessible for anybody.
As an officially licensed game, you can play as the greatest stars of the league, not only including active players like Stephen Curry, Pau Gasol, Dirk Nowitzki, and George Hill, but also retired ones like Allen Iverson and Shaquille O'Neal. There are solo, local multiplayer, and online multiplayer game modes in all of this too.
NBA Playgrounds will launch in May on the Nintendo Switch, but also on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Do you think this arcade basketball game, similar to NBA Jam, will be a hit?
