Forget Man City and Chelsea, it's Sheffield Utd who'll rise to power.

A Football Manager 2015 player - Lorf_Yimzo - recently took it upon himself to simulate a millennia of Premier League football, and the results are most interesting.

The math behind the simulation, plus a few observations regarding the methods employed, can be found over on Reddit, but the most interesting element by far is the results, and the teams that dominated along the way. Lorf_Yizmo offers a century-by-century account of what happened, who won what when, as well as announcing the winners and losers.

According to the simulation, Sheffield Utd are the most successful club in the coming millennium (they also had the most successful season, winning 101 points in one year!), with Burnley a close second. Burnley were in fact the most consistent club in the sim (they also won the most FA Cups, taking home the oldest trophy in football a staggering 101 times). Arsenal got an honourable mention for their consistency, and it's also worth noting that their existing Invincibles run of 49 games without a loss is a record that, according to the simulation, stands the test of time.

The most expensive transfers were between Bordeaux and Coventry (£127) and then Arsenal to Nottingham Forest (£122) - interestingly, both transfers came in mid-21st century. Finally, the biggest stadium is the Harry Potts Arena in Burnley which hosts 112k (we also liked that Arsenal get a stadium called the Wenger Arena).

There's many more interesting details over on Reddit if you'd like to know more.

REVIEW. Written by Bengt Lemne

"It's a great game at its core, it just falls short in some respects in terms of game balance."
