343 won't talk about the next Halo "for quite some time"

Don't expect them to unveil new details at Gamescom or PAX.

Phil Spencer did explain the reason behind the absence of Gears of War and Halo during their E3 conference last week, but that hasn't stopped fans from asking for more info about the next instalment in the Halo series.

Thus it was left to Jeff Easterling, lead writer at 343 Industries, to address the matter over on the official Halo blog. For fans hoping for news soon, the prognosis isn't great:

"While there's little to nothing that can be said on that front, it's been made clear that we won't be talking about Halo's next major title for quite some time. And no, that doesn't mean Gamescom. Or PAX. Trust us, when we're ready to begin pulling back that proverbial curtain, you'll know. It won't be soon."

On the bright side, though, there is some new Halo content in the pipeline. Halo Wars 2 is getting a new story expansion introducing the dangerous Flood once more. You can read more about the upcoming Halo Wars 2 DLC here.
