2020 Pokémon World Championships heading to London

England's capital will be hosting the event next year, which will feature Sword and Shield as well as the usual.

The Pokémon World Championships are the place to be for Pokémon esports, but it's also a celebration of all things to do with the franchise, and now The Pokémon Company has revealed the host of the next event in 2020, which is none other than London, England.

Considering Pokémon Sword and Shield's Galar Region is based loosely upon Britain, this isn't too surprising, and we can expect Sword/Shield there since the game releases later this year. We can presumably expect the usual elsewhere as well, despite the new city, like card games and celebrations for fans to get involved in.

REVIEW. Written by Magnus Groth-Andersen

"Sword/Shield innovates by having one foot resting in the essence of what makes the Pokémon universe what it is today, while having the other dipped into new waters."
