Call of Duty: Ghosts has debuted at the top of the UK multi-format charts this week, and has ended up being the third biggest launch of the year behind Grand Theft Auto V and FIFA 14.

The break up of the game's sales across different platforms makes for interesting reading. 62 per cent of sales were for the Xbox 360 version, whereas 34 per cent went to PlayStation 3. PS4 accounted for 3 per cent of overall sales at retail, more than PC and Wii U combined (the Wii U version was actually only the fourth best selling game on the platform last week). In fact, the PS4 version of Ghosts sold more than that PS3 versions of both Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Battlefield 4, not bad for a game that players won't be able to play for three weeks.

Overall the picture remains reasonably similar this week. Battlefield 4 holds onto second place in the chart after selling 6,000 units more than Assassin's Creed IV over the last two weeks, meaning a drop to third after a 63 per cent drop in sales for Ubisoft's flagship title. FIFA 14 (16 per cent drop) and GTAV (31 per cent drop) both went down a place, and Batman: Arkham Origins sold 55 per cent less units, despite PC, Wii U and 3DS variants of the game releasing this week.
