According to the figures announced by Take-Two, Grand Theft Auto V has sold a staggering 29 million units since the game launched back in September.

Due to the way that Take-Two present their financial information, GTAV sales were not included in their official quarterly report, where they posted sales of $148.82 million (down 45 per cent year-on-year) and net losses of $124.12 million. However, the picture starts to look much better when Rockstar's opus is taken into consideration (it wasn't considered in the official numbers because GTA Online had not been released when Take-Two's quarter ended at the end of September).

When GTA is taken into consideration, Take-Two can boast revenues of $1.27 billion, with a net income of $325.57 million. The company are also predicting net revenues for the year will approach $2.3 billion.

"During the fiscal second quarter, we delivered record Non-GAAP results driven by the unprecedented success of Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto V," Take-Two's CEO Strauss Zelnick said. "The title received stellar reviews, shattered entertainment industry records, and has already sold-in nearly 29 million units to date. The extraordinary success of Grand Theft Auto V illustrates the positive momentum in our business and consumers' enduring appetite for the highest-quality interactive entertainment."

In a post-earnings conference call, Take-Two also discussed the success of other games in their stable. For example, Borderlands 2 has shifted 7.5 million copies so far, and that game plus NBA 2K14, Bioshock Infinite, and GTAV have all achieved franchise high sales (in the same period of time as previous releases). Net revenue from digital titles also increased (by 85 per cent), thanks largely to GTA, Borderlands 2, Bioshock Infinite and Civilization V.
