Films based on video games have a tendency to suck quite frankly, and one reason may be that game developers are so keen to have a film made that they end up compromising the whole concept. One who does not want that to happen to his "baby" is Ken Levine. In an interview with Industry Gamers he has the following to say with regards to the stalled production of the Bioshock flick:

"We got very close to having it get made - we had a deal in place and a director. But for us there's no burning [desire] to have a movie made just to get it made.", says Levine.

"There are differences between games and movies, no doubt, but the movie has to draw from the same DNA in terms of the world and the story beats. But you know, we don't have a need to get it made.", Levine concludes.

While it's good to hear that there is no rush, we'd still like to see a Bioshock movie at some point.
