After a three year hiatus, Ubisoft's Rainbow Six series is returning, though you'll be waiting a bit: it's not due to 2013.
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Patriots, to give its full name, will be released across Xbox 360, PC and PS3, and sees the team go up against a revolutionary group named "True Patriots" in a story that'll take the series "in a bold new direction", the company says.
"Terrorism has evolved, and so has Rainbow 6. In Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 Patriots, all the team play, tactics, and realism that fans of the series love have been coupled with an exciting new narrative direction," said David Sears, creative director at Ubisoft. "This adds an unprecedented level of humanity that will make Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 Patriots an extremely tense and immersive experience."
The True Patriots are combating what it sees as an "American government is irrevocably corrupted by greedy politicians and corporate special interests". The wording is that they'll do anything "to reclaim their country", suggesting that while Rainbow has finished in Vegas, the story will keep them, for the most part, on home soil.
The game will carry both SP campaign, co-op and other multiplayer modes.
