Electronic Arts must be corking up the champagne as we speak as FIFA 12 managed to register the third best ever opening week ever in UK history, behind only Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and actually beating out Grand Theft Auto IV. Compared to FIFA 11's opening week, unit sales were up 18 per cent and revenue up a whopping 34 per cent.

Microsoft's and Epic's Gears of War 3 naturally was forced to accept second place, with Codemasters' F1 2011 claiming third. The Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection came in a very respectable seventh - great for a HD remake.
