Sega Sammy reported a very strong financial quarter with profits up 400% for the corporation as a whole. The video game business, however turned a fairly modest profit 39 million yen (£260,000), which then again should be compared to a loss the same quarter last year.

The company has been fairly successful in transitioning from physical goods to a more digital business, and while boxed retail games sales fell from 2.76 million to 1.21 million, the digital business saw growth.

Company of Heroes 2, which launched with just 5 days remaining of the period sold 380,000 copies - a strong start for the PC exclusive release even if it has some way to go before it warrants the hefty price Sega ended up paying for it at the THQ auction.
