There are a couple of worst-kept secrets in the games industry. Like Timesplitters 4, Mirror's Edge 2 or Syndicate (if any of those turn out to not be in production, I will eat my hat, or a nice cake). Up until today, Borderlands 2 was one of them. Did anyone seriously not think Gearbox Software was working on it?

Anyway, today Gearbox and 2K made it official. Borderlands 2 will make an appearance at Gamescom later this month, and will return a week later at PAX. The game will be coming to PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 and is slated for release in "Take-Two's fiscal year 2013", which kicks off in April next year.

There's not any more information about the game available right now, but the next issue of Game Informer is supposed to come with a lot of new details - including a look at the first of "several new character classes being introduced in Borderlands 2."

"It's rare for drudgery to set in. And for a game of this size and style, what's even more surprising is that the word 'grind' never enters the lexicon."
