The hype surrounding Techland's and Deep Silver's zombie brawler Dead Island may have subsided somewhat since the breathtaking announcement trailer was issued early this year. However, anticipation is still high for the game and the publisher has now announced that a novel based on the game will be penned by Mark Morris, best known for writing books in the Doctor Who universe as all as 16 original works.

Mark Morris, winner of a British Fantasy Award, had the following to say:

"Having marvelled, like the rest of the world, at the stunning trailer earlier this year, I absolutely leaped at the opportunity to write the official Dead Island tie-in novel. This is a rich, exotic world of well-conceived characters, stunning locations and all-out zombie mayhem. What really attracted me to the project, however, was the fact that behind the nonstop action is a complex and multi-layered plot. I'm hugely excited and massively honoured to be a part of the Dead Island phenomenon."

The book will be published by Bantam on September 8.

Dead Island

REVIEW. Written by Jonas Mäki (Gamereactor Sweden)

"Later escort missions are troublesome, as it feels as though Techland has equipped the NPCs with the same artificial intelligence as the zombies by mistake."
